Trustee (Fundraising Lead)
Citizens Advice North Hertfordshire (CANH) is looking to appoint a Trustee who will take the lead on fundraising.
Our main office is located in Letchworth Garden City, at which most meetings are held. Our operations cover the whole of North Hertfordshire and part of South Cambridgeshire.
There are typically 6-8 evening meetings a year, but there may also be a need for the Fundraising Lead to visit the office occasionally during the working day.
Main duties and responsibilities
- take the lead in drawing up a fundraising strategy
- maintain an awareness of the business of CANH
- regularly attend, prepare for and take part in meetings
- actively contribute to setting policy and strategic direction, defining goals, setting targets and evaluating performance
- monitor whether the service complies with its governing document, whether it meets Citizens Advice standards and how well the advice needs of the local community are being met
- monitor the financial position of CANH and sure that it operates within its means and objects, and that there are clear lines of accountability for day-to-day financial management
- support the development of CANH through participation in agreed projects
- actively seek to further the strategic objectives of CANH, and act in the best interests of CANH at all times
- maintain confidentiality about any sensitive or confidential information received in the course of duties as trustee

- commitment and availability to attend CANH trustee board meetings
- effective communication skills and willingness to participate actively in discussion
- willingness to gain knowledge of local needs and resources
- commitment to the aims, principles and polices of the Citizens Advice service, including those relating to equal opportunities, independence and research and campaigns
- ability to understand and accept their responsibilities and liabilities as trustees and employers
- willingness to participate in democratic process which develops Citizens Advice policies by area and nationally
- willingness and ability to learn, and to develop and examine their own attitudes
- ability to think creatively and strategically, and to exercise good, independent judgment
- ability to work effectively as part of a team.
